Credentials & Licensure
Spaulding Academy & Family Services is proud to maintain credentials and licenses through the Department of New Hampshire. We strive to provide industry-leading expertise for those in our care.
Spaulding Academy & Family Services is a child-placing and child care agency licensed through the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services Division of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) and Child Care Licensing Unit (CCLU), approved by the New Hampshire Department of Education (DOE), and recognized by the Connecticut Department of Children and Families, the Connecticut Department of Developmental Services, the Maine Department of Health and Human Services, the Maine Department of Education, the Vermont Department of Mental Health, and the Vermont Medicaid, and other state agencies across the country. Each of these agencies conduct an on-site evaluation of Spaulding Academy & Family Services programs and services in a regular cycle depending on the agency’s requirements.
Spaulding Academy & Family Services is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) International, an independent, nonprofit organization that evaluates health and human service providers. This accreditation names Spaulding Academy & Family Services a Qualified Residential Treatment Provider (QRTP).

Academic
The New Hampshire Department of Education approves Spaulding Academy & Family Services as a Special Education and Non Public School to provide special education for the students in our care. Spaulding Academy & Family Services’ special education academic program received 5-Year New Hampshire Department of Education approvals in 2010, 2015, and 2020.
Disability Identifications: The State Department of Education disability identifications for which Spaulding Academy & Family Services is approved include: Autism, Emotional Disturbance, Intellectual Disability, Other Health Impairment, Speech or Language Impairment, Traumatic Brain Injury, Developmental Delays, Specific Learning Disability, and Multiple Disabilities.
Residential
The New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services Child Care Licensing Unit (CCLU) approves Spaulding Academy & Family Services to provide Child Care and Residential Care in accordance with the provisions of RSA 170-E. Our current Child Care license authorizes us to provide care for 71 children on this campus as residential students, who are from 4 to 21 years of age.
Community-Based
The New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services Division of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) licensed Spaulding Academy & Family Services to provide foster care services.
The New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Child Care Licensing Unit (CCLU) approves Spaulding Academy & Family Services to operate as a Child-Placing Agency in accordance with the provisions of RSA 170-E. As a licensed Child-Placing Agency, we provide safe and nurturing Individual Service Option (ISO) level foster homes and in-home ISO service, as well as children health support for children and families.
Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) International
CARF is a private, nonprofit organization that promotes the quality, value, and optimal outcomes of services through a consultative accreditation process and continuous improvement services that center on enhancing the lives of the persons served. Spaulding earned a three-year CARF accreditation for our Residential and Community-Based programs in 2021.
Financial
For our residential and community-based services, Spaulding Academy & Family Services is certified for payment by the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services Division for Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) in accordance with RSA 170-G:5 and He-C 6350.
