Shooting Baskets, Conducting Science Experiments and Dressing Up For Prom

A girl in a sparkly purple dress smiles at prom 2022, standing between colorful decorations and balloons.

These are just a few examples of how our students have been enjoying the delights of childhood this spring. At Spaulding, it has always been one of our core beliefs and missions to allow every child in our care to enjoy the childhood they so deserve — seeing them grin ear to ear as they participate in these quintessential experiences only fuels our mission more.

Last month, our Spaulding Shooting Stars took home the silver medal at the Special Olympics of NH Basketball Tournament. Participating in team sports like basketball helps to foster courage, confidence, teamwork and sportsmanship in our students, all while allowing them to have fun and stay active. On June 6, our students will be competing again, this time in track and field at the State Summer Games. Good luck to our athletes!

Back in the classroom, our students were busy experimenting with everything from magnets to balloon-powered cars and lemon-powered batteries as they took part in our annual school Science Fair. We were so proud of their presentations, curiosity and hard work.

It wouldn’t be a true teenage experience without Prom. Thank you to all who contributed to this special evening and allowed our students to enjoy the magic of a night of excitement and dancing. For our third annual Prom, rock and roll took center stage as our students selected everything from the theme to the cuisine — a delicious build-your-own-burger bar kept our attendees well fed as they danced the night away.

CHOOSE LOVE MOMENT

We spread the love last month as we grooved out on the quad during our Choose Love Luau! Our students enjoyed temporary tattoos, a decorate-your-own bucket hat station, lawn games and even a visit from the Kona Ice snow cone truck.
