Who we are

Reflecting on another successful year at Spaulding, there were many accomplishments for us, both big and small. This past year, we were excited to update our strategic plan, which will help guide us in improving Spaulding in specific areas and ways. Taking on the theme, “Pursue Excellence,” we are focused on enhancing our current programming and considering new opportunities, recruiting and retaining excellent staff, maintaining and improving our campus to keep our community healthy and safe, and fostering core relationships that help us accomplish our goal of supporting exceptional students and their families towards a successful future.

Physical improvements over the past year include the new addition to Spaulding Academy, which was completed in August 2023. This dining space has quickly become a community meeting site. Students and staff come together to eat, gather, celebrate and laugh. With the sweeping views the space offers, it is easy to see why it is such a popular place to be! Additionally, the new Innovation Space and Speech and Language Suite helps keep Spaulding at the leading edge of child development and strengthens our connections with students, families and community members. We envision these spaces as hubs for collaboration and engagement, where ideas can flourish and relationships can grow.

This year our school focused on expanding the Choose Love Curriculum. We are excited to see these efforts support Social Emotional Learning and translate into measurable impacts for our educational goals and behavioral milestones. Implementing the program in the cottages and throughout our campus has been incredibly rewarding. Our students and staff are seeing the benefits of practicing courage, forgiveness, gratitude and compassion: the four pillars of the Choose Love equation. Embracing this movement and becoming the very first Choose Love Certified Program in the world is a key way we remain at the forefront of providing exceptional programming and care to the students we serve.

This past year, our campus saw great amounts of joy and excitement as students dressed up for the Second Annual Prom at Spaulding, participated in the school Science Fair, learned to ride a bike, enjoyed a special visit from Santa, cheered on their local baseball team, attended gymnastics and karate lessons and so much more. To some, these might seem like small victories — experiences that can be taken for granted. But for our students and the families we serve, these milestones are life- changing. It is our mission to foster an environment where every student can thrive. Every day we make the extraordinary happen — Spaulding is making dreams come true — and we couldn’t be prouder of our students and staff that bring these dreams into reality.

I am honored to be part of the Spaulding community and humbled to have been selected as the organization’s new president and CEO. I am energized by the work that our dedicated staff does daily to ensure that every child in our care is provided with a childhood full of opportunities to learn, grow and play. It is my intention to build on the great work that has been done thus far and help enhance an environment that supports learning, compassion, innovation and success for all. I am excited about the coming year and believe that together we can make anything possible.
