Northfield, NH – Spaulding Academy & Family Services, a leading provider of educational, residential, therapeutic and community-based programs and services for children and youth with neurological, emotional, behavioral, learning or developmental challenges and their families, has named Rebecca MacLennan, MBA, CAGS as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO). With more than 33 years of experience, MacLennan joined Spaulding’s leadership team in March 2025 replacing Meaghan Emmons, former CFO, who was named Chief Executive Officer for the organization.

In her new position, MacLennan is responsible for Spaulding’s financial stewardship, including budgeting, financial analysis, strategic planning, risk management and long-range planning. “Becky’s proven track record managing the finances and charting the futures for a broad range of educational institutions stood out for us. When we experienced her passion for working with people to change lives, we knew we had found the perfect person for our CFO position,” said Emmons.

MacLennan launched her leadership career in 1992 as assistant CFO for a behavioral health hospital and outpatient clinic. Since then, she has served in a variety of financial management positions for Daniel Webster College, Bishop Guertin High School and the University System of New Hampshire. Most recently, she was responsible for financial management and planning as controller for Butler’s Bus Service, providing school bus and charter bus transportation services to New Hampshire and Vermont.

“Throughout my career I have been fortunate to combine my passion for children and education with my training and skills in accounting and financial management. My new position brings my passions together and I’m excited to work with the amazing Spaulding team in helping to make a real difference in the lives of the children and families we serve,” commented MacLennan.

An advocate for financial education, MacLennan has developed curriculum for personal finance courses and serves as an adjunct faculty member for Southern New Hampshire University and previously Rivier University. She has been involved with numerous professional and nonprofit organizations over the course of her career and continues to serve on the board of directors for Triangle Credit Union and as class president for the Simmons Alumnae Association. In 2015, the Nashua Telegraph named her one of Greater Nashua’s 25 extraordinary women.

MacLennan earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting and management from Simmons University, an MBA in applied management from Daniel Webster College and a certificate of advanced graduate study (CAGS) in forensic accounting and fraud examination from Southern New Hampshire University. MacLennan and her husband, Steve, live in Bedford, NH.
