Northfield, NH (August 19, 2024) โ€“ The Board of Trustees at Spaulding Academy & Family Services announced that Meaghan Emmons has been named the organizationโ€™s president and CEO. Emmons, who has served as the chief financial officer for Spaulding since 2022, has deep non-profit and executive experience in New Hampshire. She formally assumed this leadership role in August 2024 and is taking on a dual role of CEO and CFO until a new CFO is hired.

Spaulding Academy is a provider of educational, residential, therapeutic and community-based programs and services for families, children and youth with neurological, emotional, behavioral, learning or developmental challenges. Located in Northfield and founded more than 150 years ago, it is one of the largest employers in the region and has served and supported more than 50,000 youth since its inception.

โ€œI am thrilled and honored to step into the role of CEO at Spaulding Academy. I am committed to upholding the mission and vision of Spaulding and to continuing the work of supporting our exceptional students alongside our talented and dedicated staff,โ€ Emmons said. โ€œI am so proud of the work that we do each day for all of the students that we serve and will be looking at ways we can further enhance the scope of our programs and continue to innovate with our educational, residential and therapeutic programming, while remaining highly engaged in our community.โ€

Meaghan Emmons became CFO of Spaulding in 2022. Prior to joining Spaulding, she spent nearly two decades with Granite Group Benefits and Alera Group, serving most recently as senior vice president of finance and overseeing the companyโ€™s finance and accounting team. She holds an MBA from Southern New Hampshire University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Saint Anselm College. Emmons is an active community volunteer. This includes working with UpReach Therapeutic Riding Center during mounted and unmounted therapy programs and with the New England Parkinsonโ€™s Ride.

โ€œWhile we were prepared to do an extensive external search to fill our CEO opening, our transition team quickly recognized that we had a very natural and highly qualified candidate in our midst,โ€ said Michael Ventura, chair of the Spaulding Academy Board of Directors. โ€œAs a member of our current leadership team, Meaghan has deep executive-level experience in human services and family-based organizations, a love of the mission and work being done at Spaulding and a vision for our next chapter. Weโ€™re excited for her as she takes the reigns of this amazing, venerable, and critical organization.โ€

Meaghan Emmons succeeds Todd Emmons as CEO. Todd Emmons is retiring after seven years at Spaulding and the past four years leading as CEO. With substantial experience and background in financial affairs and management, he will be helping coordinate the search for a new CFO.
